Math on the Menu
We will begin our Math on the Menu project this week where students will create their own restaurant! They will create a menu and design their floor plan. We will need these sites . . . Web Quest for Day One. Go to this website for numbers 10-12.. Also on the first day of the unit, students will pick a Mexican Restaurant and plan a meal for under $20 . . . . they can pick from Azteca Mexican Restaurant, Taxco Mexican Restaurant, or
LaPaloma Mexican Restaurant.

SOUND

LIGHT
We will learn how light behaves. On this website when it asks you to register just click Maybe Later. We will learn how it travels. We will also learn how to separate white light into the colors of the rainbow.

Angles and Shapes
This site will help you review the types of angles. Try this matching game of angles. This game will give you practice with angles but don't get wet! Go to this website to see how to wrap a package while practicing nets. We will use these sites to learn about nets: Geometric solids at Illuminations and Math Nets Interactive Geometry. If you need extra practice with triangles this is the place. This will give you a little more practice naming those quadrilaterals.

Paper Folding Angles
These will be 2 websites you will visit to practice folding paper to measure angles. You can go to this website to fold paper 30 and 60 degrees. You can go to this website to fold paper 45 and 90 degrees. Make sure you follow the directions. Here is a great site to practice folding airplanes.

Decimals
We are beginning decimals this week! Here are some concepts that we will need to practice: naming decimals, comparing decimals, ordering decimals, adding decimals and subtracting decimals. Have fun fixing the railroad track while adding decimals. If you have trouble converting fractions to decimals try the decifractator! Here is a great concentration game to practice matching tenths to hundredths.

FRACTIONS
We have learned how to write fractions, using parts of a whole, naming fractions, and visualizing fractions. We have learned how to find equivalent fractions. We have also learned how to find the fractional part of a number, how to change improper fractions to mixed numbers and mixed numbers to improper fractions, and how to add and subtract fractions. This was a neat site to practice changing mixed numbers to improper fractions. Here is another cool site for equivalent fractions. This is a concentration game for equivalent fractions. For a fun way to learn about fractions this is the site to visit.
